An eastern style papermaking screen that can be used for western sheet forming as well. This papermaking screen is made of poplar wood and sometimes reclaimed mahogany depending what is available. The top frame is attached to the bottom with brass hinges. It is sealed with beeswax/linseed oil paste made by Hook Pottery Paper using the beeswax from their own bees. The screen is made of bamboo and has a “sha” attached which is made of a woven polyester material. The black “sha” helps see the buildup of fiber thickness as the sheet is being made. An excellent paper mould for natural fiber sheet forming.
